Manager in Moon survives attempt to fire her

Jeanne Creese, who has been Moon manager for about two years, was nearly fired March 2 for not complying with a residency requirement.

Supervisors Vice Chairman Frank Sinatra made a motion to fire her immediately, and Tim McLaughlin seconded it.

But the motion failed, with opposition from Andrew Gribben, Marvin Eicher and Chairman James Vitale.

Ms. Creese resides in Rochester.

Mr. Gribben said that because he knows of Ms. Creese's extenuating circumstances, he could not vote to terminate her. Last month, Ms. Creese said it was a personnel issue and said that she understood the ordinance and had been trying to sell her house in Beaver County.

Ms. Creese was hired in March 2009. Her annual salary is $86,254.

In another residency issue March 2, Beacon Hill Drive resident Carol Masri asked Mr. McLaughlin to resign because he had been transferred by his employer, USAirways.

"I don't understand why he is holding the seat and the taxpayers hostage," she said.

Mr. McLaughlin said he still resided in the township, even though his house is for sale, and that he intended to remain in his seat until the term expires in December.

Solicitor Blaine Lucas told Ms. Masuri that the board had no jurisdiction to remove Mr. McLaughlin and could not schedule a special election.

Moon resident Nelson Kletzli Jr. supported Mr. McLaughlin. "Tim is one of the finest individuals I've ever met." Mr. Mc Laughlin has the township's best interests in mind, Mr. Kletzli said.
