Johnson: No mosque near ground zero

On September 11th, 2001, I was a USAirways Captain based in Boston, Massachusetts.

My flight, my crew and my passengers narrowly missed being selected by Mohamed Attah and his group of Islamic political and military terrorists to begin destroyingour American Dream.

By the grace of God my crew did not have our throats slit with box cutters, and ouraircraft hijacked and flown into the World Trade Center Buildings, thus becomingthe first terrorist victims on that fateful day. I watched that horror occur fromthe crew room that morning and left for home, knowing our lives had just changed butnot knowing how. American citizens who think that the Islamic Talaban and Hamas donot want us dead are kidding themselves.

Our American way of life is under attack by this radical Islamic sect.  Our youngmen and women are actively fighting this war against Islamic terrorism on the frontlines in Iraq and Afghanistan to keep it from reinvading our shores. The same enemy, the terrorists we are fighting overseas, are welcome in any mosque anywhere in theworld.

Not until the Muslim leaders denounce and get under control all the evil, violent and terrorist acts this segment of their denomination is forcing on us and onthe rest of the world, would I support a peace-loving mosque on our most hallowedground.

Putting a mosque on the edge of Ground Zero is a political action, using our rightof religious freedom as a weapon against us. The same way they used our education system to learn how to fly our airplanes and use them as bombs to kill nearly three thousand innocent victims.

Our government is first and foremost responsible for the safety of us citizens.Common sense tells me that a political, not religious, victory mosque in the former
shadow of the Twin Towers is slap in the face to all Americans.  Politicalcorrectness has weakened us to the point that we as a nation no longer stand for anything.  I am taking a stand:  No Islamic mosque near Ground Zero
